Governments and supermarkets don’t seem to work together
By Mark Breakspear
In the United Kingdom we are told, or should I say advised, to eat five portions of fruit or vegetables a day. So why is it when I go into a super market the burgers and chips and all things that are high in hydrogenated fats are the cheapest to buy, and the Vegetables and Fruit have increased in price at a phenomenal rate? The average mother of two with a low family income, and now due to a global economy crash even more limited spending will always opt for the cheaper fattier foods, due to budget rather than a lack of care for the Childs diet. So before our governments starts advising about diet, maybe they should start to get in talks with the major retailers and try to make a change in how the different foods are priced.
